- The officer asked about the university, who is paying, and what his plan is after graduation.
- He answered, but I do think he got nervous and started talking too much.
- No documents were really checked in detail.
What is confusing me is that people keep saying opposite things. Some say reapply immediately if nothing major is wrong. Others say do not book another interview until something material changes. But what actually counts as a real change?
For example, would any of these make a difference?
- Cleaner financial documents with a simpler explanation of who is sponsoring
- A better, shorter answer about why this specific school/program
- A stronger explanation of home ties and post-graduation plans
- Deferring to next semester instead of trying again right away
- Bringing different supporting documents even if they may not ask for them
I also keep wondering whether the main issue is usually documents or the interview itself. If they barely look at papers, then maybe the refusal was more about how convincing his answers sounded? He was not lying or anything, just anxious and a little all over the place.
If you got rejected once and then approved later, what changed between attempts?
Like, did you completely rewrite your interview answers and practice them? Did you switch how you explained finances? Did you wait a few weeks or months before reapplying? And is it a bad idea to reapply too fast if the profile is basically the same?
I know nobody here can say for sure why an officer refused him, and I am not looking for legal advice. I just want practical experiences from students because right now every answer feels like guesswork. Even small details would help, like whether you kept answers super short, how you explained ties to home country without sounding scripted, or whether mentioning career plans back home mattered.
