First tip: prioritize your activities. I made a list of everything I had done since freshman year, including clubs, sports, volunteering, and even hobbies. I then categorized them based on leadership, impact, and time commitment. The Common App allows you to list up to 10 activities, so focus on the most significant ones that truly reflect your personality and values.
Next, use action verbs and quantify your accomplishments. Instead of just saying, 'I was a member of the debate club,' I wrote, 'Participated in 20+ debates, placing in the top 5 at regional competitions.' This not only shows involvement but also highlights achievement!
Lastly, include a brief description for each activity. What did you learn? How did you grow? Admissions officers are interested in the depth of your experiences. Don’t underestimate the power of storytelling!
