The figures show how many households had solar panels in two towns at three points between 2015 and 2025, with the totals measured in thousands.
Overall, the number increased in both towns. Town B initially had more households with panels, but the faster growth recorded in Town A meant that their positions were reversed by 2025.
In 2015, 2,000 households in Town A had solar installations, compared with 4,000 in Town B. Five years later, these figures stood at 6,000 and 7,000 respectively. Town A had therefore tripled its total over the first interval, reducing Town B’s lead from 2,000 households to 1,000.
The contrast became more pronounced in the following five years. Town A gained a further 8,000 households, reaching 14,000 in 2025, while Town B added 3,000 to finish at 10,000. Over the decade as a whole, Town A’s increase of 12,000 households was twice Town B’s gain of 6,000. The combined total for the towns consequently rose from 6,000 to 24,000 households.
