Ideas to explore

  • Budgeting lessons can teach students to prioritise essential spending and plan for future goals.
  • Classroom simulations can give students a low-risk opportunity to practise making financial choices.
  • A common school course can provide a basic foundation for students whose families have different levels of financial knowledge.

Suggested structure

  1. Introduce the issue in your own words and state clearly whether you agree or disagree.
  2. Develop the first reason: explain how budgeting skills help students and give a practical example.
  3. Develop a second reason, such as understanding borrowing or making saving decisions.
  4. Address a possible objection, such as a crowded curriculum, and explain why the subject remains worthwhile.
  5. Conclude by restating your position and summarising the main benefits.

Band 7.0

They say that schools should include the financial course for the students program to improve the money management skill. I fully agree with this issue and in this essay I will describe why financial education is very important. First, money is the principal element of a human’s life and the basis of an individual’s wealth. For this reason, children should learn how to make sensible financial decisions before they become independent. If they understand the value of budgeting, they can distinguish between essential purchases and things they simply want. This skill can help them avoid spending all their income as soon as they receive it.

Schools are an appropriate place to teach these ideas because every student will eventually need to manage money, regardless of their future career. A practical course could cover making a simple budget, comparing prices, saving for a goal and understanding how borrowing works. For example, students could be asked to plan monthly spending with a limited amount of money. This would allow them to practise making choices in a safe setting before facing real financial responsibilities.

In addition, financial education may help young people recognise the risks of debt and make better decisions about using credit. Parents can teach these lessons, but not all families have the same knowledge or feel comfortable discussing money. Providing a basic course at school would therefore give students a more equal opportunity to develop these skills.

Some people may argue that schools already have too many subjects. However, financial knowledge is useful throughout adult life, so it deserves a place in the curriculum. In conclusion, I fully support making financial education compulsory because it can prepare students to budget, save and borrow responsibly.

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
Replace the first two sentences with a direct paraphrase of the prompt and your position; this will remove the unclear wording in “the financial course for the students program.”
2
Develop each body paragraph with a clear claim, an explanation of how it helps students, and a practical example, such as planning spending for a limited monthly budget.
3
Before submitting, check noun phrases and collocations in the introduction, especially “money management skill” and “agree with this issue”; use precise plural forms where you discuss skills generally.
