- People may regard property as a long-term asset and a visible sign of financial or personal achievement.
- When buying is treated as compulsory, people may take on unsustainable debt or overlook the flexibility that renting can provide.
Suggested structure

- Explain practical motives for buying, such as stability and the hope of building an asset.
- Explain how social expectations can reinforce the preference.

In some countries of the world, where land area is sufficient to build private housings, many key factors are encouraging their citizens to own the houses rather than renting. In this essay, I am going to discuss the facts that are leading to own a house in positive way. In contrast, people can manage or change a rented property only within the conditions of their agreement, whereas owners may have greater control. I regard affordable ownership as a positive goal.
People may place importance on ownership because it offers control over their living environment. An owner can usually make long-term plans for the property and remain connected to a neighbourhood without depending on the renewal of a lease. Cultural expectations may reinforce this preference when a home is associated with adulthood or the ability to provide a stable base for a family.
Another motive is the wish to build an asset. Rather than paying rent indefinitely, a buyer may hope that regular payments contribute towards a property they can keep. This can encourage long-term planning. However, maintenance and borrowing costs still need to be considered, and ownership does not guarantee that someone's wealth will increase. The value of the choice depends on affordability and circumstances.
I regard the preference as mainly positive when it encourages a realistic plan for stable housing. Someone who chooses a suitable property within their means may gain continuity and more freedom to adapt it to their needs. These benefits can support family routines and a sense of belonging. They are more convincing than the claim that ownership itself proves success.
There are important limits. A person who expects to move for work may benefit more from renting, and someone with uncertain income should not feel compelled to take on an unaffordable commitment. Tenants deserve respect and secure arrangements too. A positive view of buying should not become social pressure to follow the same path regardless of need.
In conclusion, stability, control and a desire to build an asset explain why ownership matters. I view this goal positively when it is affordable and freely chosen, while recognising renting as a legitimate alternative.
