Band 5.0

It is said that improving people’s lives should be the most essential purpose of science. I strongly agree with this view due to its power in curing diseases. Science has the power to treat highy risky health issues. By a quick look to the history, it is easy to realize that it has always been an important part of human progress, especially in medicine. In the past, many illnesses could not be treated, and people often died at a young age. Scientific research has changed this situation by helping doctors understand the causes of disease and develop medicines and vaccines. As a result, patients can receive better care and families may avoid losing someone they love. Science also improves lives outside hospitals. For example, research can help farmers grow food more efficiently and can lead to cleaner ways of producing energy. These developments matter because health depends not only on medical treatment but also on having enough food and a safe environment. In this way, science can benefit whole communities, rather than only people who are already ill. However, scientific discoveries are not always used for good purposes. Some technologies can cause pollution or be used to make weapons. This does not mean that science itself should have a different main aim. Instead, governments and researchers should consider possible harm and make rules to guide how new discoveries are used. They should also make sure that useful treatments are affordable and available to people with different incomes. Therefore, I strongly agree that improving people’s lives should remain the main purpose of science, while discoveries should be developed and used responsibly.

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
Replace “highy risky health issues” with an accurate, natural phrase such as “serious health conditions,” and proofread the opening for spelling.
2
Expand one example: explain how vaccines or medicines improve health, then connect that benefit explicitly to people’s quality of life.
3
Use a clear paragraph plan: introduction, medical benefits, wider benefits and possible risks, then a conclusion that restates your position.
