Band 6.0

I am glad to present my presentation about the development of a village called Chorleywood. If there are no objections, I will go ahead and get started. First of all, I would like to provide you with some information about Chorleywood for better understanding. This is a small countryside village located near the capital of London. The maps show that the village expanded considerably between 1868 and 1994, with most later development taking place in separate areas around the transport network. In the earliest period, from 1868 to 1883, built-up area was limited. Development then spread around the centre between 1883 and 1922, following the opening of the railway in 1909. From 1922 to 1970, further growth occurred mainly to the west and south of the station. The motorway was built in 1970, and the final period, from 1970 to 1994, saw additional development in several areas to the north, east and south-east, as well as near the central transport routes. Overall, the village grew from a small settlement into a much larger community, and its development was closely associated with improvements in transport. The station and motorway provided new links, while Chorleywood Park and Golf Course remained a prominent feature to the north of the village.

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
Replace the presentation-style opening with a direct introduction that identifies the map and its dates.
2
Add a concise overview before the details, highlighting the village’s expansion and the arrival of the railway and motorway.
3
Describe the four development periods in chronological order, using the map’s exact dates and directions rather than adding unsupported figures.
