A month before my test, I had the full "how to improve SAT score in 30 days" panic spiral. I kept taking random practice sets and felt busy, but my score barely moved. What finally helped was making the last 30 days way more targeted.
My biggest tip: stop treating every missed question the same.
I made a super simple error log with 3 things:
- question type
- why I got it wrong
- what clue I missed
After like 4 days, the patterns were obvious. For me it was:
- rushing the last reading passage
- missing tiny wording in math
- changing correct answers because I second-guessed myself
So instead of doing more and more questions, I built a 30-day SAT score improvement routine around those exact problems:
- One timed section a day, not a whole test unless it was the weekend
- Review for longer than I practiced because that was where the score gains came from
- Redo missed questions 2 days later without looking at notes
- Keep a short formula/grammar sheet and read it every night for 10 minutes
- Pick one pacing rule and actually follow it every time
The pacing rule helped a lot: if I was stuck for over 40 seconds in math, I circled and moved on. That alone saved me from wasting points.
If you only have 30 days, I genuinely think focused review beats grinding endless tests. One good week of noticing your own patterns can do more than five sloppy practice exams.
If anyone wants, I can also share the exact layout I used for my error log.
