how I reused my supplemental essays (and you can too!)

If you're like me, you probably have a ton of supplemental essays to write and it's easy to feel overwhelmed. But here's the good news: you can totally reuse parts of your essays!

Here’s what I did:

  • Identify common themes: Many colleges ask similar questions. Look for prompts that focus on your interests, experiences, or goals.
  • Draft a solid base: Write a comprehensive essay first that captures your voice and biggest achievements. Make it a template.
  • Tailor as needed: When applying to other schools, tweak the essay to fit the specific prompt. Change names, tweak details, and make sure it aligns with what the school values.
  • Keep a checklist: I created a short checklist of points to harmonize with each school’s mission or unique attributes.

This strategy not only saved me time but also made sure my essays felt cohesive and authentic.
