When I realized I had exactly 4 weeks left, I kept searching for a TOEFL preparation plan one month before test day because every schedule online felt either way too intense or way too vague. This is the simple version I followed, and it honestly made prep feel manageable.
Week 1: figure out your baseline
- Take one full practice test timed.
- Write down your weak sections, not just your total score.
- Start a mistake log in notes or a doc. Every wrong answer gets a reason.
Week 2: heavy skill building
- Reading: 2 passages a day, then review why each wrong option was wrong.
- Listening: do short sets and practice taking cleaner notes.
- Speaking: record 2-4 answers daily. Focus on structure, not accent.
- Writing: alternate between integrated and independent tasks.
Week 3: timed practice
This is where my TOEFL preparation plan one month before the exam started feeling more real. I stopped doing only untimed drills and switched to section-level timing.
- One timed reading set
- One timed listening set
- One speaking session with a timer
- At least 2 essays across the week
Week 4: test simulation + light review
- Do 2 full-length tests this week, not every day.
- Review templates for speaking and writing.
- Go over your mistake log.
- Sleep normally. Seriously, this mattered more than I expected.
My daily split was basically:
- 1 hour weak area
- 45 min second weak area
- 30 min speaking or writing output
- 20 min vocab review from real passages only
Biggest tip: don’t just keep consuming practice questions. Review is where score gains came from for me.
If anyone wants, I can also share the exact 7-day version I used during the final week.
