Putting together my resume for college application was way harder than I expected because I kept treating it like a job resume. What finally helped was thinking of it as a snapshot of how I spend my time, not a list of random achievements.
I cut mine down to academics, activities, leadership, service, and a small awards section. I also rewrote everything to show impact. So instead of just saying member of debate club, I wrote what I actually did and if I competed, organized, or helped new members.
The biggest improvement was removing filler. A shorter resume with specific details looked way better than a packed one with vague lines. Mine felt much more like me after that.
