I kept searching SAT reading and writing tips after bombing a Bluebook module because I was changing right answers to “better sounding” ones. What helped most was making a tiny checklist and using it every single passage.
- Reading: answer from the passage, not your memory of the topic. If two choices seem good, I ask which one has direct proof.
- Writing: for grammar questions, don’t read for vibes. Check subject-verb agreement, punctuation, and sentence boundaries first.
- Transitions: predict the relationship before looking at choices: contrast, cause, example, continuation.
- Rhetorical synthesis: underline the task word like
introduce,conclude, oremphasize. - Timing: if I’m stuck after 45 seconds, I flag and move. My accuracy got better once I stopped forcing it.
Also, reviewing why the wrong answers are wrong helped me way more than just doing more questions.
