- Work on supplemental essays in order of deadline.
- Send test scores if needed.
- Request transcripts and confirm counselor materials.
- Fill out the FAFSA and any financial aid forms as soon as they open.
My biggest tip here: do not write supplements one school at a time in a random order. Group them by type. A lot of schools ask similar questions like why us, community, academic interest, or extracurricular impact. Reusing your own ideas in a smart way saves a ton of time.
November:
- Submit Early Action or Early Decision applications.
- Double-check portals after submitting.
- Keep working on Regular Decision essays immediately after early deadlines.
The mistake I almost made was treating my first submission like the finish line. It is not. November gets dangerous if you relax too hard after one or two apps.
December to early January:
- Finish and submit Regular Decision applications.
- Verify all recommendations and transcripts were received.
- Check scholarship deadlines.
- Save copies of everything.
