TOEFL vs IELTS: Which One Should I Choose If Speaking Is My Weakness?

Hey everyone! So, I recently found myself in a bit of a pickle trying to decide between the TOEFL and IELTS. Speaking has always been my weakness, and I wanted to share my thoughts in case anyone else is in the same boat.

Here’s what I’ve gathered: TOEFL's speaking section involves recording responses into a microphone, while IELTS is more direct, with a real examiner. This difference made me wonder which one would be less stressful during the actual exam.

I’ve heard from friends that TOEFL’s format can feel more natural when you're just talking into a mic compared to having someone in front of you judging your every word. But, IELTS might allow for more immediate feedback, which could help with nerves.

What do you guys think? If you’ve tried both and had to choose based on which speaking format felt easier, I’d love to hear your experiences!
