What do you REALLY need to pack for your college dorm?

So, I just moved into my dorm and let me tell you, packing was a total adventure! I thought I had it all figured out, but once I got here, I realized I might have overpacked (hello, 10 pairs of shoes) and missed some essentials. Here’s my two cents on what to actually bring to avoid becoming a dorm clutter mastermind!

First off, it’s super important to check what your dorm provides. Some places come with furniture, while others might not even have a fridge!

  • Bedding: Get comfy! Twin XL sheets are essential, and don’t forget a good blanket.
  • Kitchen Supplies: A few bowls, utensils, and maybe a microwave if your dorm allows it.
  • Tech Gear: Don’t forget your laptop, chargers, and headphones!
  • Cleaning Supplies: It’s not glamorous, but a mini vacuum or dustpan can save your life.
  • Personal Items: Toiletries, clothes, and maybe a couple of cozy slippers.

Also, think about the space! I ended up getting some organizers after realizing my closet had limited room. Make the most of vertical space with hangers and shelves. A little creativity goes a long way!

Lastly, remember that it’s okay to buy things once you get there. Local stores will have what you need, and it’s way less stressful than dragging everything from home. What’s your packing strategy? Share any tips that worked for you!
