  • Prioritise essential school provision, then support targeted adult courses.

Suggested structure

Children’s schools should receive a secure basic level of funding, while targeted adult learning centres also deserve support. I favour allocating additional money according to local needs rather than treating the two groups as competitors.

Band 5.0

Nowadays some people say government should spend money for adults learning centres. Other people say schools for children need this money. Both ideas are good and I think schools are more important because children are the future.

First, children need good schools. If the school has no books, children cannot learn good. Some schools also have very old computers and it is difficult for teachers. Government can buy books and computers and make the school better. For example, in a small town there is many children in one classroom. The teacher cannot help everybody and some children do not understand the lesson. More money can make more classrooms and employ more teachers. This is good for all the children and for the country when they grow up.

Second, adults also need to learn. Some adults did not finish school or they want a new job. They can go to a centre and learn computers or a different language. It is useful because many jobs need these things now. My neighbour was working in a shop and he wanted to work in an office. A computer course can help a person like him. But adults can also study on internet and some adults already have jobs. Therefore I think government should not spend too much money on every adults centre because the money is limited.

In conclusion, there are good points for schools and adults centres. Children need education and adults need jobs. In my opinion schools should get more money first and after that government can help adults centres. It will be better for people in the future.

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
Develop the adult-learning view with one clear benefit and one limitation, then explain why your priority for schools outweighs that limitation.
2
After drafting, check each sentence for subject–verb agreement, especially with plural nouns such as “children.”
3
Replace repeated general words such as “good” and “help” with precise choices that explain the effect, such as “improve learning” or “support job prospects.”
