The pie charts provide information about the percentage of different types of sources in the UK in 2014 and 2018. Overall, while renewable energy exhibited an upward trend, the reverse was true for coal and nuclear power. Additionally, gas, oil, and others remained unchanged. Focusing on increasing first, the percentage of renewable energy in the two charts rose from 15.0% in 2014 to 26.2% in 2018, making it the most notable change among the fuels. Coal, by contrast, fell substantially from 28.4% to 18.1%, a decline of 10.3 percentage points. Nuclear energy also decreased, though only slightly, from 22.5% to 21.6%. Gas accounted for 30.1% of generation in both years, the largest share in each year. The proportion from oil and other sources was the smallest and remained at 4.0% throughout. In 2014, gas and coal together contributed 58.5% of total generation; by 2018, their combined share had fallen to 48.2%. Overall, the figures show a clear shift from coal towards renewable energy, while gas remained stable and the two smaller categories changed little or not at all.
