The wealthier countires often support the poorer countires with the help of donations in terms of financial aid, medical and food supplies and other sorts of humanitarian aid. These types of aids often help the poorer country to stabilize the situation of excessive shortage of basic humanitarian needs such as medical and food supplies but they cannot, by themselves, remove the conditions that keep people in poverty. In my view, developed countries should therefore provide more long-term practical assistance, while retaining financial aid for urgent needs.
One useful form of support is investment in education and vocational training. If people can gain skills that local employers need, they are more likely to find stable work and support their families without relying on repeated donations. Developed countries could also help improve healthcare systems, farming methods, transport networks and access to clean water. Such projects can make communities more resilient and help local businesses reach markets. This kind of assistance is most effective when it is planned with local communities, so that it addresses their priorities and can be maintained after outside experts leave.
However, it would be unrealistic to suggest that money has no value. During a famine, epidemic or natural disaster, financial contributions can be transferred quickly and used to buy food, medicine and emergency shelter. In addition, poorer governments may need funding to build schools or clinics, even when technical advice is available. The key issue is not whether money should be given, but how it is used. Aid should be transparent, carefully monitored and connected to a longer-term plan rather than delivered as a temporary solution.
Overall, I agree that developed countries should give poorer nations forms of help beyond financial aid. Training, infrastructure and reliable public services can tackle some underlying causes of poverty, while well-managed funding remains important in emergencies and for supporting these lasting improvements.
