Target Band 6 · Original model answer

I like the park near my home. It is quite big and has a path for walking, so I go there after work when the weather is nice. My neighbourhood is also convenient because there are shops nearby. I do not need to travel far to buy food.

Answer analysis

Language

Simple sentences are mostly controlled, with some extension through “because” and “so”.

Development

The explanation is clear, but the second point is less personal than the park example.

Fluency & Coherence

The ideas follow a clear sequence: you name the park, describe its walking path and when you visit, then add the practical benefit of nearby shops. The answer stays focused on the question, though the two benefits could be connected more explicitly to make the development feel fuller. Practise speaking this answer for 30 seconds, adding one brief explanation of why each feature matters to you. Fluency cannot be assessed from text alone.

Lexical Resource

Your vocabulary is clear and relevant, particularly in “a path for walking” and “shops nearby”; the listener can readily understand what you appreciate about the area. The wording is mostly familiar and repeats general ideas such as convenience without much descriptive variety. As an optional refinement, replace “a path for walking” with “a walking path” and add one accurate descriptor, such as “peaceful,” only if it reflects your experience.

Grammatical Range & Accuracy

You use accurate simple sentences and a useful reason-result link in “so I go there after work when the weather is nice.” The present-tense forms and the sentence with “because” are also well controlled. Most structures are short, however, so the range is limited. For a small extension, combine the park description and your routine in one sentence using “which,” while keeping the original meaning.

Pronunciation

Pronunciation cannot be assessed from this text, and this practice guide is not an assessment of a recording. Practise the word stress in “neighbourhood” and “convenient,” then group the answer into thought units: “I like the park near my home” / “It is quite big and has a path for walking” / “so I go there after work.” Record one reading, check that each group is easy to follow, and repeat it.

A transcript shows language and organisation. Fluency, delivery and pronunciation require an audio recording; the synthetic voice demonstrates the text, not the original speaker.

  • Add one specific, truthful detail about what you do on the park path, such as whether you walk along it; do not add an activity that is not accurate for you.
  • Connect the two benefits with a short summary, for example, that the area is pleasant as well as practical.
  • Practise a 30-second response using the existing order, then check whether you can explain each benefit in one extra sentence without repeating “nice” or “convenient.”

Ideas to explore

  • The response answers the question immediately and supports convenience with a nearby park and shops. The personal use of the park develops the point naturally. It is already an effective Part 1 answer; avoid lengthening it into an essay. The small improvement is a more natural collocation for everyday tasks.
  • Use the first quoted phrase to state the central idea.
  • Use the second quoted phrase to connect the example or consequence.

Suggested structure

  1. Answer the question directly.
  2. Explain the reason with the example already supplied.
  3. Finish with its consequence or implication.
