Sample answer

My hometown is in Cumilla. It is situated in the southernmost region of Bangladesh, not really that far from the southern Indian border. In fact, Cumilla is not just the place where I reside; it is also my workplace.

Answer analysis

Fluency & Coherence

The answer develops in a clear sequence: it names Cumilla, adds a location detail, then explains that the speaker lives and works there. The final point makes the response more personal, although the middle detail is more geographically specific than this question requires. For practice, give this answer in 20 seconds, then repeat it in 15 seconds while keeping the hometown, location and work details in that order. This is not a fluency score because the input is text only.

Lexical Resource

The vocabulary is clear and includes useful location language such as “situated” and “reside,” as well as the specific place name “Cumilla.” However, “southernmost region” and “southern Indian border” are not accurate descriptions of Cumilla’s location, and “place where I reside” sounds formal for a simple Part 1 answer. Next, use precise, conversational wording such as “in eastern Bangladesh” and “near the border with India.”

Grammatical Range & Accuracy

The answer uses a range of accurate sentence forms, including the contrastive structure “not just …; it is also …” and the introductory phrase “In fact.” The clauses are easy to follow, and there are no clear grammatical errors in the supplied text. A useful refinement is to make the final contrast more direct and conversational—for example, say that you live and work in Cumilla rather than describing it as “the place where I reside.”

Pronunciation

Pronunciation cannot be assessed from text, so this is a practice guide, not an assessment of a recording. Practise the word stress in “southernmost region” (stress the first syllable of “southern” and “region”) and “my workplace” (stress “work”). Mark thought groups in “My hometown is in Cumilla / It is situated in eastern Bangladesh / I also work there.” Record yourself once, then check whether each phrase is complete and clear; do not treat this exercise as an accent score.

A transcript shows language and organisation. Fluency, delivery and pronunciation require an audio recording; the synthetic voice demonstrates the text, not the original speaker.

  • Answer the question immediately with “I live in Cumilla,” then add one short detail about the city.
  • Replace the directional claims about the southernmost region and southern Indian border with the accurate, simple phrase “in eastern Bangladesh, near the border with India.”
  • Practise a 15–20-second version aloud, keeping the location and the fact that you work there as two distinct, easy-to-follow points.
