The graphs showed the shifting of households percentage owning electrical appliances (washing machine, refrigerator, and vacuum cleaner) and household spent time (hours) on housework per week from 1920 to 2019. Overall, the ownership of three electrical appliances increased gradually throughout the periods, with a significant increase in 1940. In 2019, almost the households have refrigerator and vacuum cleaner; in fact, both figures reached 100%. The refrigerator had the sharpest early rise, from almost 0% in 1920 to 50% in 1940 and 90% in 1960. It then reached 100% in 1980 and remained at that level. Vacuum cleaner ownership rose steadily, from 30% in 1920 to 50% in 1940, 70% in 1960 and 90% in 1980, before reaching 100% in 2000. Washing machines were the most common appliance at the beginning, at 40%, and increased to 60% in 1940 and 70% in 1960. After a slight fall to about 65% in 1980, the figure climbed to 75% in 2019. In contrast, weekly housework hours fell overall, from 50 hours per household in 1920 to 35 in 1940 and 20 in 1960. The decline slowed thereafter, reaching 15 hours in 1980 and 2000, then about 10 hours by 2019.
