The two pictures compare the current layout of a public library with how it looked 20 years ago. It is evident that the changes involved the transformation functions of all sections of the library, as well as the removal of central tables and chairs. Currently, when entering the library, visitors can access the cafe on the right-hand side, while the entrance remains in the middle of the southern wall.
Overall, the library has been substantially reorganised. The central tables and chairs and the enquiry desk have disappeared, while several book areas have been replaced by facilities for study, events and refreshments.
Twenty years ago, the left side contained CDs, videos and computer games at the top, adult fiction in the middle, and a reading room at the bottom. On the right, children’s books occupied the upper section, adult non-fiction was below them, and the enquiry desk was in the lower corner. The tables and chairs stood in the centre.
Today, the central area is open. The left side contains sofas and a storytelling-events area at the top, children’s fiction and reference books in the middle, and a computer room at the bottom. On the right, a lecture room occupies the upper section, with adult fiction below it. An information desk and self-service machines are further down, while the café is at the bottom.
