This diagram illustrates the changes in the floor plan of a public library from 20 years ago to the present. Twenty years ago, in the middle of the library has two large tables and chairs, but now its have been removed. On the left side of the central area, the electronics room has been changed into a section containing children’s fiction, a storytelling area and two sofas. On the right, the former children’s-books area is now a lecture room, while the adult non-fiction section has been replaced by adult fiction books, an information desk and self-service machines. At the bottom left, the reading room has given way to a collection of reference books and a computer room. The enquiry desk on the lower right has also been replaced, with a café occupying this corner. The entrance remains in the centre of the bottom wall. Overall, the central tables and chairs have disappeared, and the library now offers more varied facilities, including spaces for events, computing, lectures and refreshments. Several book areas have also changed position or type.
