A comparison of the overseas visitors quantity in a European country with the further classification by three different areas between 1987 and 2007 is demonstrated in the line chart. Overall, general growth is noticeable and all the areas have higher metrics at the end of the period in 2007 compared to the beginning in 1987. The coast started at about 40,000 visitors, fell slightly to around 35,000 in 1992, and then rose steadily. It reached approximately 50,000 in 1997 and 60,000 in 2002, before ending at roughly 75,000, the highest final figure. Visitor numbers for the mountains increased more gradually, from 20,000 in 1987 to around 25,000 in 1992 and 30,000 in 1997. They remained close to 30,000 in 2002, then climbed to about 35,000 in 2007. The lakes had the lowest starting point, at around 10,000. Their total rose to roughly 20,000 by 1992 and 40,000 in 1997, then surged to a peak of about 75,000 in 2002. However, it fell to 50,000 in the final year. Thus, the lakes briefly became the most popular area, while the coast finished first and the mountains remained least visited.
