The line graph compares and contrasts in changes of how many people travelled to the coast, the mountains and the lakes in a European country over a 20-year period from 1987 to 2007. A closer look at the diagram highlights the fact that the three attractions seemed to be favored by the visitors as they visited these areas. Overall, the coast was the most popular place in 1987 and 2007, while the lakes had the highest figure in 2002. The number for the mountains increased slowly during the period.
In 1987, around 40 thousand visitors went to the coast, compared with 20 thousand for the mountains and 10 thousand for the lakes. The coast figure fell a little to about 35 thousand in 1992, then went up to 50 thousand in 1997. It continued rising, reaching about 65 thousand in 2002 and 75 thousand at the end.
The lakes also increased, from 10 thousand to 25 thousand in 1992 and 40 thousand in 1997. It then climbed quickly to approximately 75 thousand in 2002, before dropping to 50 thousand in 2007. In comparison, mountain visitors grew from 20 to 25 thousand in 1992 and reached 30 thousand in 1997. After this, the number changed only a little, and finished at about 35 thousand. The gap between the coast and lakes therefore changed considerably over these years.
