Dear Lisa, I hope you are doing well. Your project sounds interesting, and I would love to tell you how we celebrate New Year in China. As you konw, the date of New Year changes every year according to Lunar Calender, which may vary from January to Februry, and we call it “Spring Festival”. The festival is especially important because it is a time for family reunions. Many people try to return home even if they work or study in another city. It is also a chance to wish relatives good health and happiness for the year ahead.
In my family, we clean the house before the festival and prepare a special meal. We decorate with red items, and older relatives give red envelopes to children. During the holiday, people visit family and friends and exchange good wishes. Customs can differ between regions, so these are examples of the celebrations I know rather than a description of every household.
My favourite part is spending time with relatives who are usually busy. I enjoy sitting together over a meal and hearing what everyone has been doing. The decorations also make the whole occasion feel cheerful.
I hope this information is useful for your project. Let me know if you would like to ask anything else.
Best wishes, Your friend
