Dear John, I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to let you know, that the new year in my country is like a festival. When the new year is near people set up their resolutions, and new goals for life. For example, quitting smoking, helping others, and becoming a doctor. As a result, many people see it as a chance to start afresh, and families often make plans together. In the days before the holiday, people clean and decorate their homes and buy food for a special meal. On New Year's Eve, relatives and friends gather, eat together, and watch the countdown to midnight. Some watch fireworks; others celebrate at home. At midnight, we wish one another happiness and success for the coming year. New Year's Day is spent visiting relatives or calling friends who live far away. What I like most is the feeling of being together. Even relatives who are busy during the year try to make time for one another. I also enjoy hearing everyone's plans, although I know that keeping resolutions can be difficult! I hope these details will be useful for your project. Let me know if you need anything else. Best wishes, Your friend
