Dear John, Hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to support you for your university assignment by sharing various experiences about how we celebrate New Year’s Day in my country, India. To commence with, India is a nation where people from different religions live together, and every festival is equally important for people here. New Year is important because it gives families a chance to welcome a fresh start and make plans together. India has many religions and traditions; people celebrate 1 January in many places, while some communities mark the new year on other dates.
In my city, celebrations begin on New Year’s Eve. Streets and shops are decorated with lights, and people meet friends or attend parties. At midnight, we count down, exchange greetings and watch fireworks. On New Year’s Day, my family visits relatives and shares a special meal.
I especially enjoy the cheerful atmosphere. People seem hopeful, and relatives who are usually busy make time for one another. I also like seeing people from different backgrounds celebrate together.
I hope this helps with your project. Let me know if you would like details about a particular region.
Best wishes,
