Ideas to explore

  • Skills-based assistance, such as teacher training or vocational education, can build local capacity beyond the duration of a grant.
  • Health, water and agricultural partnerships can target essential services and practical needs, especially when local communities help set priorities.
  • Financial support can remain valuable during emergencies and infrastructure projects when it is transparent, accountable and coordinated with other forms of assistance.

Suggested structure

  1. Introduce the issue and state a qualified position on whether non-financial assistance should be prioritised.
  2. Explain how practical or technical support can address underlying causes of poverty, using specific examples.
  3. Acknowledge why financial aid is still needed, such as emergencies or infrastructure.
  4. Conclude by presenting a balanced approach and linking it to sustainable poverty reduction.

Band 4.0

Rich countries giving money to poor countries is a good thing for many countires but not all of them. Many countries use this money and try to get stable economy. They use this money in a proper way to build their country. There are some countries that recieve the money but aren’t able to help themselves. This can happen when a government does not plan well, or when money is spent by leaders for their own needs. For this reason, giving cash alone may not end poverty. However, I do not think rich countries should stop giving financial aid. Poor countries may need money quickly after a war, a natural disaster, or a serious economic problem. Aid can pay for food, hospitals and schools, and this can help people immediately.

At the same time, other kinds of help can be more useful over a long period. Developed countries can train local workers, support teachers and doctors, and help improve farming methods. They can also share technology and help poorer governments make fair plans for spending public money. These actions can give people skills and help a country become less dependent on outside support. For example, training farmers to use better tools may help them produce more food for their own communities.

In my view, the best solution is to provide both financial aid and practical support. Money is important, but it should be connected to clear plans and checked to make sure it reaches people who need it. If rich countries only give money, some problems may remain. If they only provide training or equipment, countries in crisis may not get the quick help they need. Therefore, financial aid should continue, while developed countries should also offer education, training and expert advice. This balanced approach is more likely to reduce poverty in a lasting way.

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
State your degree of agreement clearly in the introduction, then keep that position consistent in the body and conclusion.
2
Develop the opening claim about money helping some countries with a concrete explanation, and explain why cash may fail in other cases.
3
Proofread specifically for sentence boundaries, articles before singular nouns, and the spellings of “countries” and “receive.”
