Some people think that developed countries should provide other types of help rather than financial aid to developing counties since giving financial aid might not be a solution to poverty. I personally agree with this statement due to the following reasons. First of all, giving financial aid for free to developing countries might establish economic dependence, especially if governments come to rely on repeated transfers instead of building local industries and effective tax systems. When money is poorly monitored, it may also fail to reach the people who need it most. Therefore, financial support should be tied to clear goals and accountability rather than treated as a complete solution.
More importantly, richer countries can help poorer nations build the skills and services needed for long-term progress. For example, they could provide technical training for local workers, support schools and healthcare services, or share expertise in agriculture and public administration. These forms of cooperation can help communities become more productive and enable governments to deliver essential services more effectively. They may also create lasting benefits after a particular aid programme ends.
In addition, developed countries could offer fairer trade opportunities and help improve infrastructure, such as transport and access to reliable electricity. These measures can make it easier for local businesses to grow and create jobs. However, I do not believe that financial aid should be stopped altogether. In emergencies, including natural disasters or severe food shortages, direct funding may be the quickest way to save lives. The key is to combine immediate assistance with practical support that addresses the causes of hardship.
In conclusion, I agree that richer countries should offer more than financial aid. Training, services and fair economic opportunities are often more sustainable, although carefully managed funding remains important in urgent situations.
