Sample answer

In my free time, I like reading books. It really helps me relax from my busy day. If it is a long weekend coming, I will enjoy going shopping with my friends, or doing something valuable for my family.

Answer analysis

Fluency & Coherence

The answer develops in a clear sequence: reading is the regular free-time activity, then a long weekend introduces two other options. That makes the response easy to follow, though the final options could be developed with one brief personal detail. Practise by speaking for 25–30 seconds using this answer: give one reason reading helps, then add a specific example of shopping or helping your family. Record one take and check that each idea is complete.

Lexical Resource

Everyday vocabulary such as “reading books,” “busy day” and “going shopping with my friends” answers the question clearly and includes relevant activities. “Relax from my busy day” and “something valuable for my family” are understandable, but the wording is less idiomatic or precise than it could be. Practise replacing broad phrases with natural collocations, such as “unwind after a busy day” and “do something useful for my family.”

Grammatical Range & Accuracy

The answer uses simple present forms and attempts a future conditional: “If it is a long weekend coming, I will enjoy…” The basic meaning is clear, but “it is a long weekend coming” is not a natural grammatical construction; use “if a long weekend is coming up.” The other sentences are straightforward and readable. Practise building this conditional with “if + present,” followed by “will” and a clear verb phrase.

Pronunciation

Text alone cannot establish your pronunciation, so this is a practice guide, not an assessment of a recording. Try saying “reading books,” “busy day” and “shopping with my friends” in thought groups, giving clear prominence to “books,” “day” and “friends.” Record yourself reading the full answer twice, then check whether the phrase boundaries are easy to follow and those key words remain clear.

A transcript shows language and organisation. Fluency, delivery and pronunciation require an audio recording; the synthetic voice demonstrates the text, not the original speaker.

  • Replace “relax from my busy day” with the more natural phrase “unwind after a busy day.”
  • Practise the pattern “If a long weekend is coming up, I’ll…” to make the future condition clear.
  • Add one brief, true detail about why you enjoy reading or what you do when shopping with your friends.
