What hobbies do you enjoy in your free time?

Sample answer

There are many hobbies that I enjoy in my free time, such as dancing, singing, and reading. But my favorite hobby is singing because I like to sing and want to become a singer in the future.

Answer analysis

Fluency & Coherence

The ideas move in a clear sequence: you name three hobbies, identify singing as your favourite, give a reason, and finish with a future goal. This makes the response easy to follow. To practise developing it aloud, give a 20–25-second answer using these same points, then repeat it while adding one brief detail about why you enjoy reading or dancing. Fluency cannot be estimated from text alone.

Lexical Resource

The wording is clear and appropriate, with useful topic vocabulary such as “dancing, singing, and reading” and “become a singer”. However, the close repetition of “singing”, “sing”, and “singer” makes the second sentence less varied. Try replacing one repeated phrase with a natural equivalent, such as “I enjoy it” or “pursue singing”, while keeping the answer conversational.

Grammatical Range & Accuracy

The answer uses accurate sentence structures, including the reason clause “because I like to sing” and the coordinated future goal “and want to become a singer”. The contrast introduced by “But” is understandable in conversation. The grammar is controlled, though the response relies mostly on straightforward clauses. For a little more range, you could connect the preference and future ambition in one sentence without repeating the same word family.

Pronunciation

Pronunciation cannot be assessed from the written answer. As a practice guide, mark the main stress in “free time” and “favorite hobby”, and group the ending as “because I like to sing / and want to become a singer in the future”. Record yourself saying the answer, then check whether those phrases are easy to understand and the thought groups match the meaning. This guide is not an assessment of a recording.

A transcript shows language and organisation. Fluency, delivery and pronunciation require an audio recording; the synthetic voice demonstrates the text, not the original speaker.

  • Keep the clear order of hobbies, favourite hobby, reason, and future goal when answering aloud.
  • Reduce repetition in the second sentence by using “I enjoy it” instead of repeating “sing”.
  • Practise delivering the answer in 20–25 seconds, then add one brief supporting detail about one of the other hobbies.
