To be honest, I am originally from Tashkent, but I have been living in Fergana for the past few years. I love Fergana, but I still miss my hometown sometimes. There is just something about the small town that I really appreciate.

Answer analysis

Fluency & Coherence

Because this is text only, fluency cannot be scored here. The answer develops naturally: it names Tashkent, explains the living situation in Fergana, then contrasts affection for Fergana with missing the hometown and gives a reason. Practise by speaking this answer for 20 seconds, then repeating it in 15 seconds while keeping those three stages; check that the final appreciation still follows clearly.

Lexical Resource

Phrases such as “originally from Tashkent” and “for the past few years” express background and duration clearly, while “miss my hometown” communicates personal feeling naturally. The vocabulary is appropriately varied for a short Part 1 response, though “Fergana” and “town” recur closely. As an optional refinement, use a precise descriptive phrase such as “its small-town feel” to make the final idea flow more smoothly.

Grammatical Range & Accuracy

The answer uses accurate sentence forms, including the contrast in “I am originally from Tashkent, but I have been living in Fergana” and the present perfect continuous for an ongoing situation. “I still miss my hometown sometimes” is also clear and natural. There is no evident grammatical error to correct; a useful next step is to practise a contracted version, such as “I’ve been living,” for conversational delivery.

Pronunciation

No recording was supplied, so this practice guide is not an assessment of your pronunciation. Practise the word stress in “Tashkent,” “Fergana,” and “hometown,” then group the opening as: “To be honest | I am originally from Tashkent | but I have been living in Fergana.” Record one take, listen back, and check that each place name and the contrast are easy to follow.

A transcript shows language and organisation. Fluency, delivery and pronunciation require an audio recording; the synthetic voice demonstrates the text, not the original speaker.

  • Keep the answer’s clear progression: where you are from, where you live now, and how you feel about each place.
  • Try one concise descriptive phrase to explain what you appreciate about the small-town quality, without adding details that are not true for you.
  • Practise a 15–20-second spoken version and listen back to check that the contrast between loving Fergana and missing Tashkent is easy to follow.
