Source-reported band score · 49 words

Sample answer

Well, I am originally from Andy Jan, but I live in Namangia City. I've been here for the past 9 months because of my studies. I love Namangia City very much, but I still miss my hometown sometimes. There is something special about my city that I really appreciate.

Answer analysis

Fluency & Coherence

The ideas follow a clear sequence: you identify where you are from, explain why you live elsewhere, and then describe your feelings about both places. The answer ends with a general point about what you appreciate, but does not explain what that is, so the response feels slightly unfinished. Practise speaking for 30 seconds: use this answer, then add one brief explanation of what makes the city special without inventing details.

Lexical Resource

You use relevant everyday phrases, including “originally from,” “because of my studies,” and “miss my hometown,” to answer the question clearly. The main limitation is repeated, general wording around “city” and “special,” which gives little detail about your feelings. As a next step, keep the personal tone but add one precise description of what you appreciate, using only a detail that is true for you.

Grammatical Range & Accuracy

Your sentences are generally well controlled, and “I've been here for the past 9 months because of my studies” uses the present perfect naturally to describe a situation continuing until now. The relative clause in “something special about my city that I really appreciate” also adds useful variety. Most structures are still simple statements, though. Try combining a contrast and a reason in one sentence while keeping the same accurate details.

Pronunciation

This is a text-only assessment, so pronunciation cannot be judged from the answer. For practice, stress the place names “Andy Jan” and “Namangia City” clearly, and group “for the past 9 months” as one meaningful phrase. Record yourself saying the full answer, then check whether each place name is easy to distinguish and whether the thought groups match the meaning. This guide is not an assessment of a recording.

A transcript shows language and organisation. Fluency, delivery and pronunciation require an audio recording; the synthetic voice demonstrates the text, not the original speaker.

  • Add one short, truthful detail explaining what you mean by “something special,” so the final idea feels more complete.
  • Practise linking your contrast smoothly: say that you love Namangia City, then add that you sometimes miss your hometown.
  • Record a 30-second response and check that your answer develops beyond naming places by including one personal reason or feeling.

Ideas to explore

  • Give the hometown’s name and country, then mention a personal connection such as being born and raised there.
  • Describe one or two features of the place, such as its architecture and parks, rather than listing many attractions.
  • Finish with a personal activity and feeling, such as enjoying walks because they are relaxing.

Suggested structure

  1. Name the hometown and country.
  2. Add a brief personal detail about your connection to the place.
  3. Describe a distinctive feature or two.
  4. End with an activity you enjoy and explain how it makes you feel.
