The table compares annual visits to three public libraries in a city in 2015 and 2025, with attendance expressed in thousands.
Overall, visits increased by a quarter across the three libraries, but the pattern varied considerably by location. Central strengthened its position as the busiest library, Riverside experienced moderate growth, and Hilltop was the sole location to lose visits.
Central recorded 180,000 visits in 2025, up from 120,000 ten years earlier. This rise of 60,000 represented a 50% increase. Riverside’s attendance grew by 25%, from 80,000 to 100,000. Central thus attracted 80,000 more visits than Riverside in 2025, twice the difference recorded in 2015.
By contrast, Hilltop’s annual figure fell by 15,000 to 45,000, a reduction of one quarter. Central consequently received four times as many visits as Hilltop in the later year, compared with twice as many in the earlier one. The combined total increased from 260,000 to 325,000 visits; Central’s substantial gain accounted for almost all of this net growth, with Riverside’s smaller increase largely balanced by the decline at Hilltop.
