  2. Give an overview of the main redevelopment and the features that remain.

Band 4.0

The pictures show three maps, which are illustrated the development of Westpark Secondary School in different period of time. (time periods) Overall, main road was in that place in each of the year which is illustrated, more over main building of the school is stated on the map (idicated). Despite this, there are some parts, that changed over the period. In 1950, there were three houses on the west side, while the school was in the north-east. Farmland occupied the south-west area and a playground was in the south-east. In 1980, the houses and farmland had disappeared. A car park was built on the west, and a science block was added between it and the main school building. The sports field was placed in the south-west, while the playground stayed in the south-east. In 2010, the main road and school building remained in the same general place. The car park took up more of the western side and the science block was in the upper middle part. The sports field was now located below the science block, and the playground stayed in the lower right. Overall, the school changed from a site with houses and farmland to one with more facilities. The road was the only feature that stayed unchanged in all maps.

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
Write a two-part overview that states both the unchanged road and the main transition from houses and farmland to school facilities; avoid calling the road the only unchanged feature because the playground also stays in the same general area.
2
Make a small feature-by-date table before drafting, recording the position of the houses, farmland, car park, science block, sports field and playground in each map.
3
After drafting, check articles and plurals in the opening, then replace vague location wording such as “stayed” with specific expressions such as “remained in the south-east.”
