The provided diagram illustrates how milk and dairy products are manufactured. Overall, there are 8 stages in the process, which begins with cows grazing and ends with packaged milk at the grocery stores. The first stage commences when the cows are pastured and then they pass through the milking machine regularly two times per day. After milking, the milk is transferred to refrigerated storage tanks, where it is kept cool before collection. A milk tanker visits each day and carries it to a dairy for further processing. At the dairy, the milk is pasteurised and then packaged, while some is made into cheese, cream and butter. These products are then transported to supermarkets and shops, where they are put on sale. In sequence, the process moves from keeping and milking the cows, through cooling and delivery, to processing and distribution. Although the diagram identifies eight stages overall, the later stages branch into separate outcomes: packaged milk and other dairy goods. This means that not all the milk follows exactly the same final route, even though all products are ultimately sent to retail outlets.
