The presented line graph illustrates the variations in the number of overseas visitors to coastal areas, mountains, and lakes in a European country from 1987 to 2007. Overall, the coastal areas attracted the highest number of visitors, with a consistent upward trend from 1987 to 2007. The mountains witnessed a stable number of visitors over the middle years, remaining close to 30,000 between 1997 and 2002, before edging up by the end of the period.
In 1987, about 40,000 people visited the coast, compared with 20,000 who went to the mountains and 10,000 to the lakes. Coastal numbers then slipped to roughly 35,000 in 1992, before recovering to 50,000 in 1997. They continued rising, reaching approximately 65,000 in 2002 and 75,000 in 2007.
The lakes recorded a steady increase from around 10,000 in 1987 to 40,000 in 1997, then climbed sharply to a peak of about 75,000 in 2002. However, their total fell to 50,000 by 2007. Mountain visits rose more gradually, from 20,000 to about 30,000 by 1997, and finished at roughly 35,000.
