The line graph shows the number of overseas visitors to three different tourist destinations in a European country between 1987 and 2007. Overall, the coastal region attracted the most visitors throughout the period, followed by the lakes and mountains. In 1987, the coast received the most visitors, with around 40,000, while the mountains and lakes stood at approximately 20,000 and 10,000 respectively. The number visiting the coast dipped slightly to about 35,000 in 1992, then rose to 45,000 in 1997 and increased more sharply to roughly 65,000 in 2002. It finished at around 75,000 in 2007. Mountain visits grew more gradually, from 20,000 in 1987 to approximately 25,000 in 1992 and 30,000 in 1997. The figure then changed little, before reaching about 35,000 at the end of the period. By contrast, the number of visitors to the lakes rose from 10,000 to around 25,000 between 1987 and 1992, matching the mountains in the latter year. It climbed to 40,000 in 1997 and peaked at approximately 75,000 in 2002, overtaking the coast. However, this figure fell to about 50,000 by 2007, when the coast again had the highest total.
