Overall, it can be clearly seen that, the number of foreigners visiting all three regions, namely the coast, the mountains and the lakes showed growth in the period. The coast began at about 40 thousand visitors in 1987, before falling slightly to 35 thousand in 1992. After that, its figure increased steadily, reaching 45 thousand in 1997 and 65 thousand in 2002, then finishing at approximately 75 thousand in 2007, the highest figure at the end.
The mountains had the lowest number at the beginning, with 20 thousand. It rose gradually to around 25 thousand in 1992 and 30 thousand in 1997. The figure changed little by 2002, but increased to about 35 thousand in 2007.
The lakes started at only 10 thousand, then climbed to 25 thousand in 1992 and 40 thousand in 1997. It rose sharply to a peak of 75 thousand in 2002, becoming the most popular area then. However, the number dropped to 50 thousand by 2007. Although the lakes decreased at the end, all three areas had more visitors in 2007 than in 1987.
