Sample answer

Well, to be honest, I enjoy listening to music, having a drink, and watching TV series, especially Korean dramas. I'm not really into reading books or newspapers, though. I find them a bit boring. I guess I'm not like everyone else in that way.

Answer analysis

Fluency & Coherence

The ideas progress clearly from activities you enjoy to what you do not enjoy, then to a brief personal reflection: “I guess I'm not like everyone else in that way.” This gives the answer a natural sense of development rather than a bare list. Text alone cannot establish spoken fluency. Practise giving this answer in 30 seconds, then repeat it in 20 seconds while keeping the contrast and final reflection.

Lexical Resource

The answer uses natural, topic-appropriate expressions such as “not really into” and “a bit boring,” and “especially Korean dramas” adds a specific example. The vocabulary is clear and varied enough for this familiar topic, though most of it describes activities and preferences in straightforward terms. As an optional extension, add one precise detail about what you enjoy in Korean dramas, if you can do so accurately.

Grammatical Range & Accuracy

The response uses a well-formed list of gerund phrases in “I enjoy listening to music, having a drink, and watching TV series,” followed by clear short sentences. “Though” also helps signal contrast naturally. There is no clear grammatical error to correct; the main opportunity is to show a little more sentence variety. For example, link the reason and contrast in one sentence while keeping the meaning clear.

Pronunciation

A text transcript cannot show how you pronounce these words, so this is not an assessment of a recording. For practice, mark the main stress in “Korean dramas” and “newspapers,” then say the answer in thought groups: “I enjoy listening to music / having a drink / and watching TV series.” Record yourself once, check that each phrase is easy to understand, and repeat any word that sounds unclear to you.

A transcript shows language and organisation. Fluency, delivery and pronunciation require an audio recording; the synthetic voice demonstrates the text, not the original speaker.

  • Add one accurate detail about why you enjoy Korean dramas, such as a feature of the stories or characters.
  • Practise connecting your reading preference to its reason: state that you are not keen on reading, then explain that you find it a bit boring.
  • Time the answer at 20–30 seconds and keep the sequence of activities, contrast, and personal reflection.

Ideas to explore

  • Name reading as the free-time activity you enjoy.
  • Mention the library and the Peace Hotel as places where you used to read.
  • Include the detail that you read in class three times, expressed clearly.

Suggested structure

  1. Answer the free-time question directly with the activity.
  2. Add a sentence about when or where you used to read.
  3. Give the class-reading detail in a separate, clear sentence.
  4. Check that each detail connects to reading rather than introducing a new question.
