Source-reported band score · 49 words

Sample answer

Well, in all of the world, I have so many kinds of music, but I like to listen to classical music. When I listen to classical music, I feel my mood becomes much better and I relax. It helps me focus on my job and is not a distraction.

Answer analysis

Fluency & Coherence

The answer follows a clear sequence: it names a preference for classical music, describes its effect on mood and relaxation, then explains how it supports concentration. The final point adds a practical reason rather than changing topic. Because this is text only, spoken fluency cannot be assessed. For practice, give this answer in 30 seconds, then repeat it in 20 seconds while keeping the same three ideas and linking each one clearly.

Lexical Resource

The answer uses relevant vocabulary such as “classical music,” “relax,” “focus,” and “distraction,” so the listener can understand why you enjoy this music. Some phrasing is less natural, especially “I have so many kinds of music” and “my mood becomes much better.” Practise useful collocations such as “listen to different genres,” “lift my mood,” and “help me concentrate,” then use one or two in a concise answer.

Grammatical Range & Accuracy

You use several complete sentences and a subordinate time clause in “When I listen to classical music,” which helps connect your preference to its effects. The meaning is generally clear, but “I have so many kinds of music” does not express the intended idea naturally, and the final sentence could make its subject clearer. Practise combining a preference and its reason with “because,” and check that pronouns such as “it” clearly refer to the music.

Pronunciation

Pronunciation cannot be assessed from a written response, so this is a practice guide rather than an assessment of a recording. Practise the word stress in “classical music” and “distraction,” and say the phrase “focus on my job” as one thought group. Record yourself reading the answer, mark the stressed syllables, then listen back to check whether those key words are easy to identify; no claim is made about how you currently sound.

A transcript shows language and organisation. Fluency, delivery and pronunciation require an audio recording; the synthetic voice demonstrates the text, not the original speaker.

  • Replace “I have so many kinds of music” with a phrase that clearly describes listening to or enjoying different kinds.
  • Practise linking the preference to its effects with “It lifts my mood, helps me relax, and lets me focus on my job.”
  • Record a 20–30 second response and check that you include a preference, one emotional effect, and one practical reason.
