Band 7.0

Dear Sir or Madam,

I recently completed the evening course on basic computing at your centre and would like to offer some feedback.

The course was particularly useful because it focused on tasks I regularly encounter at work. Creating spreadsheets and organising shared documents had previously taken me a long time, but the teacher’s clear demonstrations made both much easier. I also appreciated the opportunity to practise each skill immediately rather than simply watch a presentation.

Unfortunately, equipment problems reduced the practice time available in the final session. Two computers would not start, which meant four participants had to work in pairs. Although sharing encouraged discussion, I was unable to complete the last exercise before the lesson ended.

For future courses, I suggest testing the computers shortly before participants arrive and setting aside a spare machine. Providing the exercise files online would also allow students to finish any incomplete work at home.

Despite this difficulty, I found the course valuable and would be interested in attending a more advanced class.

Yours faithfully, Alex Morgan

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
All letter points should be developed: enjoyment of practical computing, equipment failures and reduced practice, then a direct improvement. A polite request for equipment checks and spare capacity matches the problem.
2
Use an overview and group details by the actual comparison rather than describe every label in turn.
3
Check the quoted revisions and retain precise figures, dates, locations and tone.
