Band 9.0

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to thank you for the evening computing course I completed last week and to suggest an improvement to the arrangements for future classes.

The instructor’s practical approach was particularly effective. Instead of introducing features in isolation, she showed us how to organise a shared folder and build a spreadsheet for a realistic office task. Having time to try these activities ourselves made the lessons immediately useful, and I have already applied several techniques at work.

In the final class, however, two computers failed to start. Those of us who shared the remaining machines had only half the usual practice time, so I left without completing the last exercise. The problem did not affect the quality of the teaching, but it limited the opportunity to consolidate what we had learnt.

A quick equipment check before each session, together with one spare laptop, would help prevent a recurrence. It would also be useful to email the practice files afterwards so that participants could finish any outstanding work independently.

Thank you again for a valuable course. I hope this feedback helps you make the next one even more effective.

Yours faithfully, Alex Morgan

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
Keep using a paragraph for each main purpose: course strengths, the specific problem, and proposed improvements.
2
When describing a problem, state its practical effect as you do with the lost practice time and unfinished exercise; this makes your feedback persuasive.
3
Check for repeated topic words such as “practice” and consider one precise alternative where it improves variety without changing the meaning.
