Band 9.0

The diagram below illustrates the accommodation services available for students at universities in Australia. The first option shows a room designed for two occupants, while the second option represents a room meant for a single individual. Overall, there is a significant difference between the two options. The room for two residents is notably more complex, with two beds and two study desks, as well as a central table and chairs. By comparison, the single-person room contains only one bed and one study desk, giving it a simpler, more compact arrangement.

Both plans are 6 metres wide, but the two-person room is 4 metres deep, whereas the single room measures 2.5 metres. The larger room therefore provides more floor area and furniture. In both options, the bathroom is positioned at the upper left, while the bed and study area occupy the right-hand side. Each room also has a kitchenette along the lower-left side; however, the double room additionally has a round dining table and chairs in the centre.

The weekly rent reflects the difference in capacity: the room for two costs $350, compared with $200 for the single room. Overall, the shared option is more spacious and furnished for two occupants, whereas the less expensive room provides a compact arrangement for one.

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
Replace the general overview with the key contrasts: the two-person room is larger and costs more, while the single room is smaller and cheaper.
2
Check each comparison against the plan: include the 6-metre width for both rooms, and distinguish the 4-metre and 2.5-metre depths.
3
Describe furnishings by location, noting the central dining table in the two-person room and the kitchenette along the lower-left side of each plan.
