The maps compare a student room for two students and a student room for one student at an Australian university, with a table of keys denoting the furniture. Overall, there are several significant differences between the accommodations and facilities in each room, their sizes and prices, but also share similarities as well. The most evident difference is that the room for two is larger, measuring 6 by 4 metres, while the single room is 6 by 2.5 metres. It also costs more, at $350 per week compared with $200.
In the shared room, two beds are placed along the right-hand side, with two study desks, one near the top and the other along the bottom. A round table with two chairs occupies the central area. The bathroom is in the upper left, while the cooking area is arranged along the lower-left wall. In contrast, the single room contains one bed and one study desk, and no dining table or chairs are shown. Its bathroom is similarly in the upper left, and its kitchenette is placed along the lower-left wall.
Both rooms have a bathroom, cooking facilities, a study desk and a bed. Thus, the single room is not only smaller but also has fewer furnishings, and its weekly price is lower.
