User Essay Analysis

The given plans illustrate the transformation that the Southwest Airport is bound to undergo after renovation the following year. Overall, it is apparent that the airport will be expanded with the increased number of gates to deal with the rising number of passengers. In addition, there are plans to set up more amenities for the travellers. At present, the terminal has a check-in area, a café and a walkway, while gates numbered 1 to 8 are served by a narrow central pier. The airport is divided into departures on the left and arrivals on the right, with security/passport control and customs facilities located between these areas. After redevelopment, the gate capacity will rise from eight to eighteen, and the central pier will be extended into a larger branching arrangement. The departures and arrivals sides, together with security/passport control and customs, will remain at the front of the terminal. The range of facilities will also grow: the existing check-in, café and walkway will be complemented by a bag-drop point, an ATM, a sky train and car hire. Thus, the proposal combines a substantially larger gate area with a wider choice of passenger services.
