Ideas to explore

  • The clearest overall change is the rise in gate capacity from 8 gates at present to 18 after redevelopment.
  • The airport keeps its basic left-right arrangement: departures are on the left and arrivals on the right.
  • The future plan adds passenger services and replaces the walkway with a sky-train connection.

Suggested structure

  1. Paraphrase the task and identify the airport and planned timeframe.
  2. Give an overview of the largest changes, especially the increase in gates and added facilities.
  3. Describe the present terminal arrangement and its connection to the gates.
  4. Explain the future concourse shape, new services and sky-train link.
  5. End with a concise comparison of what stays similar and what changes.

Band 7.0

The maps demonstrate the current plan of southwest airport and what it will look after renovations carried out next year. The present and future modifications show a stark increase in the number of gates, along with an extension of the airport from the north and east sides. To accommodate the larger area, transportation plans of the airport will also be expanded. Overall, the number of gates more than doubles, rising from 8 to 18, and several passenger facilities and transport options are added.

At present, the airport has a compact central terminal. Security and passport control are on the left, while passport control and customs are on the right. Departures are located at the lower left and arrivals at the lower right. The gate area extends to the north, and the facilities shown include check-in, a café and a walkway.

After redevelopment, the terminal is larger, with gates numbered 1 to 18 in the expanded gate area. The main functions—security and passport control, passport control and customs, departures and arrivals—remain in broadly the same positions. Check-in and a café are retained, while a bag-drop point and an ATM are added. The future plan also includes a sky train and car-hire service; unlike the current plan, it does not list a walkway.

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
Write a one-sentence overview that states the main change and the gate total, then avoid repeating that same point in the next sentence.
2
Make a two-column inventory of current and future features; use it to distinguish retained items (check-in and café) from additions (bag drop, ATM, sky train and car hire).
3
Proofread the opening for articles, verb patterns and collocations; specifically check “look like,” “Southwest Airport” and “transport facilities.”
