  • The airport keeps its basic left-right arrangement: departures are on the left and arrivals on the right.
  • The future plan adds passenger services and replaces the walkway with a sky-train connection.

Suggested structure

  1. Paraphrase the task and identify the airport and planned timeframe.
  2. Give an overview of the largest changes, especially the increase in gates and added facilities.
  3. Describe the present terminal arrangement and its connection to the gates.
  4. Explain the future concourse shape, new services and sky-train link.

Band 5.0

The plan demonstrates the site of Southwest airport’s current situation and how it will look after development in the following year. From an overall perspective, it is clearly evident that after the development of Southwest Airport, there are some significant changes will take place such as increasement in the number of gates, new shops will be added alongside other passenger facilities. At present, the airport has a straight central concourse serving gates 1 to 8. The main terminal contains security and passport control on the left, and passport control and customs on the right. Check-in, a café and a walkway are also shown. Departures are on the left-hand side of the building, while arrivals are on the right.

After redevelopment, the number of gates will rise to 18, with the concourse branching into two arms. The central passage will connect these gates to the existing terminal areas. The departure and arrival sides will remain in their current positions, as will the main security and customs functions. However, the range of passenger facilities will increase: the new layout includes a bag-drop area, café, ATM, sky-train connection and car-hire service. Overall, the plan shows a substantial expansion of the gate area and a wider choice of facilities, while retaining the basic organisation of the terminal.

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
Replace the opening’s combined clause pattern with one clear construction, then check that each sentence has a complete subject and verb.
2
Compare the gate ranges explicitly: the current plan shows gates 1–8, while the proposed plan shows gates 1–18.
3
Use the diagram’s labels precisely: report the café, bag drop, ATM, sky train and car hire rather than claiming that unspecified shops are shown.
