Band 6.0

The provided visual aids delineate the current layout of southwest airport and depict the layout after proposed developments next year. It can be noted that there are many intricate updates planned for the new development. Some of them include the addition of 10 more gates, installing an ATM in the arrivals, moreover, the car hire facility. Overall, the airport will retain its basic terminal arrangement, while the main change is a substantial expansion of the gate area and passenger facilities. At present, the terminal is divided into departures on the left and arrivals on the right, with security, passport control and customs positioned across the central section. Eight gates are shown, reached through a narrow central walkway. After redevelopment, the terminal will still separate departures and arrivals, but the gate area will extend into two angled piers connected to a central corridor by a sky train. The gate total will rise from 8 to 18. The new departure side will include a bag-drop point and café, while the arrivals side will gain an ATM and car-hire service. Check-in facilities remain indicated in the main terminal. Taken together, these changes show a larger airport with improved access to its expanded boarding areas and additional passenger services.

Targeted Improvement Tips

1
Write a one-sentence overview that identifies the increase from 8 to 18 gates and the addition of passenger services before describing smaller details.
2
Compare the maps by area: explain the continuing departures/arrivals split first, then describe how the gate access changes from a walkway to two piers served by a sky train.
3
Use parallel noun phrases when listing changes, such as “an ATM, a car-hire service and 10 additional gates,” and check that each item is clearly identified as new or retained.
